Our Vision for Ethiopia's Future

Every child in Ethiopia deserves an excellent education that unlocks their full potential. At Teach For Ethiopia, we are making this vision a reality by recruiting Ethiopia's most promising university graduates and young professionals to teach in communities where they are needed most.

We select outstanding recent graduates and young professionals who demonstrate leadership, resilience, and a deep commitment to educational equity as Teaching Fellows. These Fellows commit 2 transformative years to teaching in high-need schools across the Amhara region, where they work alongside communities to elevate student achievement and expand opportunities.

Our Fellows join a growing movement of leaders who continue to drive positive change in education, policy, and social innovation long after their Fellowship. Together, we're building a future where every Ethiopian child has the education they deserve to shape their own destiny.

Building an Inclusive Educational Movement

Diversity is Ethiopia's strength, and we believe our Fellows should reflect the rich diversity of cultures, languages, and experiences that make our nation unique. We actively seek university graduates and young professionals from all of Ethiopia's communities, backgrounds, and regions because we know that students thrive when they see themselves in their teachers.

Our Fellows bring their unique perspectives and lived experiences to the classroom, creating learning environments where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered. Whether they come from urban centers or rural villages, are first-generation university graduates or established professionals, each Fellow contributes to our vision of educational excellence that celebrates Ethiopia's diversity.

Together, we're building a movement that not only delivers outstanding education but also demonstrates the transformative power of inclusive leadership in shaping Ethiopia's future.

We are strengthening Education Through Strategic Partnerships

Our mission is brought to life through close collaboration with Ethiopia's public sector leaders. The Amhara Bureau of Education and the Finance and Development Bureau are crucial partners in our work to transform education across the region.

These vital partnerships enable us to:
  • Align our programs with national education priorities.
  • Scale proven teaching innovations across school districts.
  • Ensure sustainable, long-term impact in communities.
  • Strengthen the public education system from within.
Working hand-in-hand with government leaders, we are building an educational movement that will benefit thousands of Ethiopian students by creating systemic change that extends far beyond individual classrooms.
